Genesis Energy’s latest reassurances on its coal stockpile have added weight to the argument that the electricity system will get through winter, but concerns over prices and their potential to spark political intervention remain high.On Friday, Genesis told the market that the current coal stockpile to fuel the Rankine units at the Huntly power station is now 515 kilotonnes (kt), and it anticipates importing another 630kt of coal arriving between now and September 2025.It needs the coal as it is uncertain about gas supply chains.
